Svitlana Plachkova

Svitlana Platchkova – the wife of the personal advisor to the President of Ukraine, formerly the Governor of the Odessa region (Oblast), Ivan Platchkov.
Presently she is the owner of a small family business, which produces wine under the trademark “Colonist”.
Before 2006 Svitlana worked as a government official in the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and in many different permanent committees of the Ukrainian Parliament.
Her work was dedicated to the development of nuclear and energy legislation of Ukraine . Svitlana Plachkova's first education was in nuclear engineering, and later she received a law degree at the Kiev University .
The last four years Svitlana dedicated to promoting the idea of European integration of Ukraine . Svitlana worked as the Chief of staff of European Integration Committee of Ukrainian Parliament.
From 2006 she has actively taken part in charity projects engaged in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and drug abuse. In particular Svitlana has dedicated herself to helping the plight of the homeless and abandoned children of Odessa .
She was previously a member of the coordinating committee of the Governor of Odessa region (oblast) which is currently dealing with these important issues. Svitlana was also an advisor to Edward Gurvitz, the mayor of Odessa on humanitarian issues.
